Região Serrana

A few kilometres to the surrounding mountains and the Cariocas come to enjoy the fresh and pure air that this region offers. The elegant Petropolis owes its name to the emperor Dom Pedro who used to rest here in the summer to escape the stifling heat of Rio. Many beautiful palaces and museums remain, bearing witness to a majestic colonial era. Correias, Nogueira, Itaipava or Terezopolis are perfect villages to go hiking in the mountain range, which offers an impressive panorama of the region. And as the mountains often have their own special local gastronomy, the Serra region is no exception to the rule! The restaurants in the area often offering fondues and other winter delicacies! It's a great contrast to being so close to the Beach, and a treat for sports enthusiasts!
